The principles behind it

A few decisions shape everything else in the system.

One school's data never touches another's

Every school on Schools Connect is fully separated from every other one: its own students, staff, records and branding. Nothing is shared between schools by default.

Access follows the role, not the person

Administrators, proprietors, accountants, teachers, parents and students each sign in to a portal built for that role. A teacher sees their classes; an accountant sees fees and payroll; a parent sees their own child.

Changes are traceable

An audit log keeps a record of who changed what, so administrators are not left guessing when something needs to be traced back.

Data can be backed up and restored

A school's records are not a single point of failure. Backup and restore tools mean the data can be protected, and recovered when it needs to be.

Verification built into the paperwork

Report cards and ID cards carry a QR code that can be scanned to verify them on the spot. It is a small detail, but it matters when a printed document needs to be trusted at a glance.

Anyone holding a printed report card or ID card can scan its code to confirm which student and school it belongs to.
